Universal Testing Machine Dual column, 5 to 50 kN
The first dual-column model in the line, from 5 to 50 kN (1,124 to 11,240 lbf), with a 425 mm test space width and a symmetric frame, on a heavy-duty bench.

The MBIOII-50-M2 is the first dual-column model in the line. The two-column frame distributes the load symmetrically and reduces crosshead deflection, which is why the M2 line switches to a dual-column design from this capacity upward.
The 50 kN (11,240 lbf) capacity and the 425 mm test space width, almost three times that of the single-column model, make room for standard metal test specimens, profiles, welded joints and industrial-size parts.
At 190 kg and 1,750 mm tall, it is still a heavy-duty benchtop machine, powered by 220 V single-phase. From the next model up, the 200 kN unit, the weight jumps to 760 kg.

Available capacities
The MBIOII-50-M2 is offered in 5 kN, 10 kN, 20 kN, 30 kN or 50 kN. The technical data on this page refer to the frame, with the same stroke, test space width and dimensions across the 5 capacities.

20 kN

The same capacities are available in other frames: the MBIOI-10-M2 in 5 kN and 10 kN and the MBIOI-10-M2 extended in 5 kN and 10 kN. For the same capacity, the choice between frames depends on the specimen size (test space width) and the elongation to fracture (vertical stroke).
What the MBIOII-50-M2 tests in practice
Estimated breaking force of common test specimens, compared with each capacity of the MBIOII-50-M2. The estimate is the cross-sectional area times the typical strength of the material.

Near limit: above 80% of capacity, with no margin for a material stronger than expected. Below range: less than 2% of the smallest load cell of the model (0.5 kN (112 lbf)). Reference values; the actual material may vary. How to calculate it for your specimen is explained in the universal testing machine guide.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about this model. For further information, contact our technical team.
Why choose a dual-column testing machine?
Because the load is distributed symmetrically between the two columns, which reduces crosshead deflection under load and keeps the specimen aligned. That is why the M2 line uses a single column up to 10 kN and a dual column from 50 kN upward.
Does the MBIOII-50-M2 accommodate standard metal test specimens?
Yes. The 50 kN capacity and the 425 mm test space width accommodate most tensile test specimens for metals per ABNT NBR (Brazilian) and ASTM standards, as well as welded joints, profiles and fasteners.
How does it differ from the 100 to 200 kN model?
The MBIOII-200-M2 has four times the capacity and a 605 mm test space width, but weighs 760 kg versus 190 kg. The MBIOII-50-M2 can still be installed on a heavy-duty bench; the 200 kN model requires a floor rated for the load.
What electrical supply does the machine require?
220 V single-phase, 60 Hz, 710 W. No three-phase supply is needed; three-phase power is required only for the floor-standing models, from 300 kN upward.
What comes with the machine and what is the warranty?
Data acquisition, analysis and reporting software, an instruction manual and a class 1 load cell per ISO 7500-1:2023 (ABNT NBR ISO 7500-1 in Brazil). 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects and technical support across Brazil. Biopdi is ISO 9001 certified.
In which capacities is the MBIOII-50-M2 offered?
Available in 5 kN, 10 kN, 20 kN, 30 kN or 50 kN (1,124 lbf, 2,248 lbf, 4,496 lbf, 6,744 lbf, 11,240 lbf). The frame is the same across all 5 capacities, with the same stroke, test space width and dimensions; the choice starts from the highest force the lab needs to measure.
Which load cells can be used on the MBIOII-50-M2?
The interchangeable load cells for this model range from 0.5 kN (112 lbf) to 50 kN (11,240 lbf): 0.5 kN (112 lbf), 1 kN (225 lbf), 5 kN (1,124 lbf), 10 kN (2,248 lbf), 20 kN (4,496 lbf), 50 kN (11,240 lbf). Using the load cell whose capacity is closest to the test force keeps the measurement within the verified range, with class 1 accuracy per ISO 7500-1:2023 (ABNT NBR ISO 7500-1:2023 in Brazil).
What is the test speed range of the MBIOII-50-M2?
From 0.02 to 500 mm/min. The speed for each test is set by the material standard and programmed in the BioLab software, which also supports constant or variable force tests and stepwise cyclic tests.
